I followed all steps from the article you suggested without success. In
the
section "How to install the Outlook Address Book Service" my address
book
is
listed and titled "Outlook Address Book" type "MAPI." Instructions then
say
to go to "How to mark your contact folder for use with your address
book"
which I did. I have two primary email folders, one titled "Personal
Folders"
and one titled "Hotmail." The "Peronal Folders" does not have a
sub-folder
titled "Contacts" however the Hotmail folder does. Next I followed the
instructions for displaying the properties for the Holtmail Contacts
folder.
Instructons next ask to select the Outlook Address Book tab. There is
no
such
tab. The tabs are named General, Home Page, AutoArchive, Administration
and
Forms. So I hit a dead end. In case you're wondering I'm using MS
Outlook
2003 (11.6359.6408) SP1 and it is configured to access Hotmail. My
desktop
Contacts folder has always been empty. I only have an Address Book. I
have
managed to copy all folders to my laptop by simply making a copy of my
PST
file, but it did not copymy Address Book. Any other ideas?
:
Then you got your Address Book too.
The Address Book is simply a view of your Contacts Folder. Just
configure
it:

Thank you for your reply Russ. I copied over my *.pst, but it did
not
include
my Address Book. I got everything else; ie, all my folders.
:
Outlook has not used a PAB for years.
All Contact data is stored in the same file as the rest of your
Outlook
Data. The file you need your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where
all
the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:

I noticed that I do not have a *.PAB file in my computer. I
suppose
it
is
because I use Hotmail and access it through MS Outlook 2003. But
I
now
want
to transfer my Outlook Address Book to my laptop computer which
also
has
MS
Outlook 2003. My Hotmail Contacts list is old, so I don't want to
transfer
that one; only my Outlook Address Book. I tried every help
suggestion
that
I
could find about transferring Address Books, but they expect me
to
have
a
PAB
file.
