No Network Connection after Windows 2000 upgrade

I just upgraded to windows 2000 from windows 98 and I used
a Linksys pci desktop adapter to link to my main windows
98 computer. All indicators say I should be able to sign
onto aol dsl through my linksys router but I can't. Help

If you remove the router and connect your PC directly to the DSL modem,
does it work then?
