No luck with a 2nd monitor

I tried two ways to get a 2nd monitor working but neither worked.
First I connected one mon. to the onboard Video output, then installed a
second video driver card in the AGP slot. Can get one to work but can't get
both to light up.
Then I tried a PCI video card instead to the AGP card and still no luck.
I did switch the Bios to allow both onboard and another card to operate.
I can get the PC to run on either onboard or AGP video adapter, but not both
at same time. Maybe I have to buy a dual output card. I really can't afford
to.
Maybe the problem is the settings of resolution and/or vertical freq.?
Should I try Safe Mode. I'm guessing.
Don't know what to try next. ???

I would suggest Start, Help and Support, Multiple Monitors, read up on
how Windows works with this.

Motherboard manufacturer and type?

Usually you cannot have the onboard video and an AGP or PCI video card on at
the same time; but you can buy a video card that has two outputs.

you generally cannot get two monitor support using the on-board video and an
agp or pci card...

you should try both an agp and a pci card
or two pci cards

Sorry, but I don't understand the address you offered: "WM home page, utilitys"
Please clarify.

He may be referring to Windows Media player home page, although I couldn't
find any section or menu item for utilities.
