No longer the same!

Hey, I recently messed up my PC and since then, I had to redo my entire PC,
erasing the hardrive and everything. But I'm having some problems. Before
the PC, my computer use to be able to do behind the scenes error reporting
with no problem. Now every time it does it, my PC frezzes. sometimes it
unfreezes, some times it does. And also in some, most wizards, at some
point, the wizard will freeze, and won't close when I close it in the
Taskbar. Not only that, but i can't update the Realone Player that came with
my PC. the installer will download, but it won't open at all. I do have
administrator privilages on this PC so I know it's not that. Please help me
get my PC back to the way it was!!! i need help! I never had these problems
before the restore, but now I'm having all these. by the way. the resotre I
used was a Compaq recovery program that I burned onto a series of 7 CDs when
i first got the PC.

System File Checker (Start/Run/CMD/SFC /Scannow)

/SCANNOW
Scans all protected system files immediately.
/SCANONCE
Scans all protected system files at the next boot.
/SCANBOOT
Scans all protected system files at every boot.
/REVERT
Windows XP: Return to default settings.

Sfc sets the following registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SFCScan

Creates a log here:

Start/Run/Msinfo32/Tools/File Signature Verification Utility. Or go to
Start/Run and type in: sigverif. Modify your settings under Advanced. When
the scan is done, go back to Advanced/Logging/View Log.

Another tool for both Current and Older Windows Files: Go to Start/Run and
type in: verifier

Modify the registry for verifier.exe

umm, all the options in SFC seem not to be recognized and it won't working.
And since I didn't knwo which option to choose in verifier, then I almost
messed up the computer again because the settings the program set weren't
good and XP wouldn't load. Good thing I had the options to load up the last
good settings. Any more options?
