I just installed Windows XP and tried to get into my
favorite game site Pogo. XP does not come with Java
installed. Went to the Sun.com site and downloaded the SE
v1.4.2_01 version, and the games still will not load. Any
Help would be appreciated..

Greetings --

As the result of a lawsuit by Sun Microsystems, and the resulting
settlement, Microsoft is no longer allowed to provide its own Java
Virtual Machine to Windows users. You can get almost the same
functionality by downloading Sun's version of Java from
http://java.sun.com/getjava/index.html. If you want the broader
capabilities of Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine, it is still
available from a lot of 3rd-party web sites, some of which are listed
here: http://www.java-virtual-machine.net/download.html.

Try here: www.apycom.us/msjava86.exe

I have just tried the site, but the owner has exceeded
his current bandwidth, so you may have to try a few times
before you can access the site.

I don't know if this is your problem but XP does contain
java under the name Microsoft Virtual Machine. You should
check settings at tools/internet options/ click security
tab click custom settings and scroll through list for java
permissions scripting etc. Also click advanced tab on
internet options and you will find virtual machine and the
java you downloaded from sun. Hope this might help a
little.
