I have two computers connected to my DSL router. One runs windows xp pro,
and other runs windows XP home edition. Both of them used to work well.
Recently, I tried to remove spyware by running Microsoft antispyware beta on
both machines. After that, my windows xp home machine lost the internet
connection. But both machine can still see each other. They can still share
files and printer.
Windows xp pro. machine still have all the internet access as before.

What is wrong with my windows XP home? How can I get my internet connection
back to this machine.

Thanks!

Dade

Some spyware hooks itself into the TCP/IP stack, and removing the
spyware can leave the stack damaged.

If the XP Home computer has Service Pack 2 installed, type this line
at a command prompt, then reboot:

netsh winsock reset catalog

If the XP Home computer doesn't have Service Pack 2 installed,
download WinSock XP Fix on the XP Pro computer, transfer it to XP Home
(using a CD, USB flash drive, etc), run it, and reboot. This web page
has details:
