No Internet Access after Spyware removal

Hello and TIA
my kid's computer had spyware and I removed it. Twice. Used Ad-aware and
Microsoft's AntySpyware tool. I also have F-tprot running on it.
it has Win XP SP2, but removing the spyware did not fis the problem, I had
no internte access. I have other computers running with the DSL in the same
line (I have a few static IP addresses) so the problem exists within that
computer only.
So I reintalled XP with the CD I got when I bought the computer, but that
did not fix the problem either, that resintallation did not reformat the
drive, and frankly I am trying to avoid it. Is there another way to regain
Internet access in that computer or is reformatting and reinstalling XP the
only way.
Thanks again.

Have you tried reinstalling the ISP (Internet Service Provider) app with
the disk they provided?

Yes, it has XP2 installed.

Since you have XPSP2, do:

Start>Run>cmd [enter]
netsh winsock reset catalog [enter]

Reboot.

If the above doesn't work, uninstall the network adapter from Device
Manager, restart Windows and let it find the adapter again.

You may need to go into the system viewers in MS anit-Spy and check to
make sure that there are no extra LSP's or host file entries. If you
are unsure what should be removed, post the entries here. You may also
want to post a Hijack-This log.

There are specific forums to post Hijackthis logs. They shouldn't be
posted here. Here are a few such forums:

Thanks, yhour suggestion did work, the system can connect to the Internet
now, but check this out, I use Win XP Pro, and I am able to connect to my
LAN, I can surf all the shared folder, available drives etc, I can even ping
other servers and computers, but I cannot ping this computer from either the
servers or the other units. Furthermore, every time I restard the computer ii
is now showing me a "adding domains" or somehting like that.
I think I will have no other option but to reformat and reinstall XP.
Thanks for your help anyway

Vic,

I am glad you revived your internet connection..Can you post some specifics
on the errors you are now reciveing? Also the ping problem may be as simple
as allowing ICMP throught the windows firewall. You may not have to start
from scratch..
