no icons and no start menu only wallpaper

Please help! Been working on this for several days! I wake up one morning and
my desk top is gone missing vanished(no icons no start menu).Only the
wallpaper is left. I can acces programs through task manager with
control/alt/delete then run, but this is very annoying.I have been doing
internet searches and a lot of people have experienced this but everyone has
a different answers. Have tried several different things but nothing seems to
work.

Hi,

Sounds like you have a corrupted user profile. Do other accounts work ok?
How about in Safe mode?

Generally, the solution for a corrupted user profile is to logon as
administrator, create a new account and copy the old one into it.

Note that one step not listed in the article is that after creating the
destination profile you must log into it once first to create the necessary
file structure before you do the copy procedure.
