I had my notebook and desktop connected via a home network and everything
was working fine until I installed SP2 on both systems. Now the notebook
(running XP Home SP2) cannot see the desktop (running XP Pro SP2). I have
tried everythng I know of. It appears from this group that many folks are
having similar issues. Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?

Since we don't know what "tried everything I know of" entails, it's
impossible to give you specific advice. SP2 automatically turns on the
Windows Firewall. Go to its applet in Control Panel and add your home
network (lan) to the exceptions as Trusted.
