No formula bar

I can't seem to turn on the formula bar in Excel v.X for Macintosh. I've
gone into the preferences menu option under Excel as well as the
Formula Bar option under View. Help!!!
 
Worked like a charm! Thank you VERY much for your help!

Any idea what causes it to happen in the first place?
