NO FONTS

I have Windows XP sp1 and my computer will at times loose
all fonts after bootup. In place of fonts there are
various symbols. System restore will correct this but it
will last up to a week at most. At times my computer will
auto reboot and loose fonts as well. I have scanned for
viruses and spyware. I have eliminated any chance of
progam incompatibility as I am now only running Windows
XP sp1 with Mcafee Virus Scanner 7.0 with latest updates.
I monitor current internet activity with Mcafee firewall,
and suspect that Bootp server may be the problem. I am
currently blocking this server.
This problem has been occuring since early Jan 2004.
Is there a solution to this problem?

.
Here is some more info.
Several times my computer will keep rebooting and never
completely load windows, even when in safe mode.
An error has appears at times stating that Windows has
not loaded correctly, this also appears at times, then
the computer will reboot.
Also when I search for the font file I do find it but it
is empty.
When I manually try to restore the fonts only some are
restored. The only choices I have are 'fixedsys'
and 'system'.
This problem has occured several times today alone.
This problem happens when using either FAT32 file system
or NTFS.
If I leave my computer on, it will reboot by itself after
a time, which varies in the length of time this happens.

I was given a solution to open regedit>HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Current Version\Explorer\Run MRU and delete all values except Default. This did not work.

With more investigating I found out the following. When the fonts are gone I find that all fonts in the fonts folder in windows is empty except there is a subfolder which contains several files of fonts which I cannot access.
Also the fonts in th registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Fonts) is missin
I tried replacing it with a backup I have but it would not work. I did delete the fonts folder in windows and replaced it but that only recovered about 70 to 80% of the fonts and the windows were distorted making impossible to see all info in the window, I could not scroll to see the info. I had to erase the hard drive with Killdisk Pro and re-install windows
Any further help would be appreciated.

I am suspecting that the problem may be with Adobe Reader. As each time I have installed it my computer will crash shortly after if not immediatly.

Adobe Reader 6.0 is the culprit. It installs fonts in a subfolder in the windows font folder. This cause a conflict that removed the registry key at boot up.

Well I installed Adobe Reader 6.0 about a week ago and so far all is running well
I have no idea why what happened happened but it did.
