Hi.

I have the WXP Pro. edition and I am asking two questions. Firstly, the
Floppy Disk drive had deleted itself from my computer and I am unable to
enable this function. I have recently re-installed this WXP Pro. edition
twice with the updates from the Microsoft Windows Update website. And, still
I have no A drive.

1) Why is this so?
2) How do I enable this function?

Thanks

Does it appear in the BIOS?

Irena, you can enable Floppy Drive in the Bios. Unless the power connector
was pulled on it. But opening the case and
physically removing the connector would have to occur. Was the computer
recently worked on?

Thank you PK.

Your post was most helpful. The BIOS was enabled. However, the 'Standsrd
CMOS Feature' indicated 'None'. I have enabled this feature and I am most
happily using my 'A' drive.

Thank you

Hi,

1. Make sure that the floppy cable and power are attached.
2. Verify that the floppy is enabled via the BIOS.

Added info: Go to Start/Run/Regedit

Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the
following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\

And/Or ....

Go to Start/Run/services.msc or Start/Control Panel/Administrative
Tools/Services. In the right pane find Shell Hardware Detection and set it
to Automatic.
