No fixes for Image problem

EDK

I have reviewed many posts here about red "x" problem or
cannot view images for one reason or another. It seems to
me that inspite of all the so called fixes, none have
worked for me. I have freshly installed Win98 and upgraded
all the necessary updates along with the latest version of
IE6 including the SP1 update. NO OTHER THIRD PARTY
SOFTWARE HAS BEEN LOADED!

The only way I can view images is that I have to keep
changing the text encoding in the View; Encoding. But this
only solves it for one page at a time. In other words, I
have to keep choosing the Encoding text in order to view
the images for each page.

Does anyone else have any knowledge as to what is going on
here. Like I said before, I have read and tried many of
the fixes (according to the links posted) and I still have
the same problem. As far as I can tell, Microsoft has not
really come up with a patch yet and they should because
Win98 and IE6 are still support.

Hey, if they want me to use XP...I would be happy too if
they upgrade my PC! FAT CHANCE!

Thanks.

Just a thought, but, have you also updated your video dirver?

dirver?

I never thought of that. Although my machince is
relatively not too old, the video card probably is. It's
a Revolution 4 (T2R4). I got this computer with no
drivers. I had to determine what drivers to us. When I
finally found the video drives, it work perfectfly except
some of the images are red "x" on some (not all) of the
web pages. When I loaded the video drivers, I did so by
using Windows 98 Add Hardware feature and it did not
install the Hawkeye drivers that came with it. Should I
even though the videon is fine? Is there another way to
test to see if it's not just a web page problem but
indeed it is a video problem?

Thanks.

Glad to hear that you've got the video part squared away and working well.
You might also try doing a repair of the IE:

Open Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs | Select and highlight your MS IE version in the list,
Click the Add/Remove tab and when the dialog box comes up, select the Repair
Internet Explorer and then click OK.
Let it run the repair.

It's also a good idea to install the latest version of Microsoft
Virtual Machine if you have not yet done that.

Here's a couple of articles and you might check too:

Hope this helps. If not, please post back with all the details, what
happens, any error messages, etc. :)
