Last exit from Brooklyn

When I try to exit from Windows Messenger, I get a warning
that says I can't stop the app because other apps are
using it. The only way I've been able to stop WM is to
log off from the user account.

The warning suggests such apps as OE, IE, and maybe
others -- but in fact none of those apps are open. Does
the basic XP desktop use Windows Messenger? How can I find
out what's keeping WM alive?

Do you have NAV? The IM protection under NAV will do that.

In Outlook Express, View menu, Layout, uncheck 'Contacts'. The contacts
are maintained by Messenger, and it will be prevented from closing while
OE is running
