No Exchange server

I have a system on my network that has Outlook 2000 installed on it. It is a
standalone and do not belong to the Exchange 2000 domain. It can ping the
Exchange server by name but when I went in to add an email account to it, it
does not have the option to add a Microsoft Exchange Server. Is there
something I am missing?
