No domain to Logon to

total newbie so may not be asking this right, but here goes

recently upgraded to Windows2000 Professional. computer had previously been networked, but no longer is. when using Windows98, that wasn't a problem because i could just <Cancel> at the login screen

now, however, the computer is requiring a login. i know all the credentials/pswds from when it was networked, so i type those in. the computer then, i assume, searches for the network to login to. obviously it no longer exists

if i give it an incorrect pswd or no password, it doesn't even go through this exercise; it simply tells me the login info is wrong

so, here's the question...can i (A) override the need to login to Win2K, or can i (B) temporarily login to undo any appearance of the network (and how the heck would i do that)

any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

you need to use the machines local Administrator account and password,
the network administrator from the domain the machine was on can do this
for you.

.....thanks for the help, steve.

funny story (well, not really): the former administrator passed away about a year ago. is there any way to get around needing any of these passwords? since the domain no longer exists (it was part of a political campaign that is long-since finished) and the passwords are gone, am i really totally out of luck?

my only thought was to do a clean install on a brand new hard drive and then set up the old hard drive as the slave. not even sure this'll work. do you have any thoughts?

many thanks!
