A few different options will cause this.
1. Right-click on Desktop and place a checkmark for "Lock Web Items on
Desktop" in the "Arrange by Icons" submenu.
2. Right-click on My Computer and select Properties, then select
"Advance"
tab, "Performance" Settings button and check off "Use drop shadows for
icon labels on the desktop".
3. Right-click on Desktop and choose Properties, "Desktop" tab,
"Customize
Desktop" button, "Web" tab and if there is any check marks for any web
pages then uncheck.

I got one other question, for some reason, there is now a highlighted
blue
color over my icons text on the Desktop, how do I take this off?

Edit the registry (Start > Run > and type "regedit.exe" without
the
quotes.)
Navigate to this key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
Locate and double-click "HideIcons" in the right-hand pane.
Change
the
Value
to 0 (zero). Log off and log on to make the necessary changes.
Now
your
Desktop Icons should be visible. If you still cannot right-click
on
the
desktop then post back.

get
you at
all

I tried all those, and I still see blue behind the text for desktop
