NO Bullets in Power Point 2007

I have purchased a Dell Latitude D830 with XP Professional and Office 2007
Professional. I cannot bring up any bullets in Power Point and Microsoft
Tech department can not find an answer. Has anyone come across this problem
and found a fix. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office three times. I
also had to remove Windows Defender because that was causing a problem in
Office when trying to access a file.
