No Boot Screen! Help

L

LITHIA

Hi everyone,

Since about a month ago, my computer has not been showing a boot screen
anymore. Instead, after displaying the manuafcturors logo, I get a black
screen with a white load bar at the bottom, almost the entire length of the
screen.

The load bar only takes about 1-2 seconds to get full, and sometimes appears
full (this is on the black screen, and nothing appears with it)

The annoying thing about this load bar, is that its stopping me from seeing
my boot screen (which isnt very nice) but the main problem is, after a crash
or illegal shutdown, it doesnt show scan-disk!

Although it doesnt show scan-disk, it does load it and scan my computer.
Sometimes I want to skip scan-disk but now this load bar is stopping me from
doing that because I cant see it. And I cant see if it finds or doesnt find
any errors.

Does anyone know of this problem or know any ways I can fix it? Thanks so
much, I havn't edited any files before this happened which involve the Boot
Screen.

Thanks again,

Dominic

Not sure what to recommend. If your problem is that CHKDSK runs each time
you start up your machine, then:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
Click on "C" and scroll down to "Chkdsk runs on boot"

Otherwise, you may want to run SCANNOW, and, if that is of no help, you may
want to do a Repair Install of XP.

start > Run > sfc /scannow > ok
Also look at the event viewer. Start . control panel >
administrative tools > event viewer :-here you look for
error logs.
If doen't help go for a " repair xp"
