I ran the command CONVERT C:\ft:ntfs now my computer will not boot. I ran the ChkDsk command and received the message 1 or more unrecoverable problems.

I am running Windows XP not sure what to say.

Yes, I did. That is when I received the 1 or more unrecoverable problems encountered. I did not see my files. Just the message. This is not looking very good rignt now.

Did you run chkdsk /r ?
Can you boot to the Recovery Console and see your files?

Good luck

Armanda,

Can you take out the harddrive and put it as slave on another
computer? This would allow you to read your data and copy it.

You have the option to do a repair install. It should preserve your
data, although you would need to update Windows XP again, that entails
enabling your firewall before going to the Internet to avoid the
worms. Read the following article carefully in case you desire to do
it.

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

Another option is going to the Recovery Console, see if you can see
your files, and try to fix the master boot record through 'fixmbr'

Good luck
