No BIOS beeps

Hope someone can help:

Symptoms: Formerly working system, powered down one day wouldn't start
the next. On pressing the power switch, fans start, hard drives whirr
but that's about it. Nothing seen on screen, no beeps and even CD
trays won't open.

What I've tried: Have two sticks of RAM, tried all combinations of one
or both. Removed all hard/floppy/CD/DVD drives. Removed graphics
card. Combinations of these. Tested voltages to the motherboard, all
appear as expected, just a couple with voltage on before power applied,
then many more afterwards at 3v, 5v, 12v etc.

None of these made any difference. I don't have another machine handy
to swap bits in and out of, so my next step is to buy another
motherboard.

Unless anyone out there has any other ideas for things I could try
before I part with my cash??

I'd try a new power supply first. If the fans spin up but the CD drawers
won't open, it could be a PSU unable to power all peripherals.

Nope, didn't work. New motherboard time :-(

Thanks anyway
