No "arrow" on AUTOSUM button

I am a novice user of Excel. Just read a "HOW-TO" article
in INSIDER UPDATE dated 12/3/03 describing several useful
options offered by "clicking the arrow on the AUTOSUM
button", i.e. averaging, counting, min/max, etc.
available in EXCEL 2002. OFFICE XP SMALL BUSINESS ED.
w/SP-2, that includes EXCEL 2002 came installed on my
DELL 8250 when I purchased it 2/2003. It HAS no "arrow"
on the AUTOSUM button and all searches of HELP and
previous posts in this forum haven't provided information
on how I might avail myself of this useful tool. DETECT
& REPAIR "completed successfully" but still didn't
provide an "arrow" for my AUTOSUM button and allowing a
scan of my system from the Microsoft Office updates page
tells me everything is up to date. Am I missing
something other than the arrow? Thanx

I wonder if this item is referring to the autosum in the status bar (at the
bottom right of your screen). When more than 1 numeric cell is selected, the
status bar will show you the total of those cells. This can be changed by
right-clicking on the sum itself and can be set to functions inc max, min,
count etc.

Try resetting the Standard toolbar. Use View, Toolbars, Customize. The
first toolbar in the list on the Toolbars tab is Standard. Make sure it is
selected and click the Reset button.

THANK YOU SO MUCH ANDY! FYI: The article I spoke of
referred specifically to the icon in the toolbar that is
the Greek symbol for sum. You DID however make me aware
of the autosum feature in the status bar. Although there
is no arrow there either, right-clicking on that feature
produces the pop-up menu described in the article.
Also FYI: Jim Rech responded to my query also and
provided me information that DID place the arrow
described in the article on the toolbar icon; plz see his
reply if you're interested. This is my reply to him:
THANK YOU SO MUCH JIM! Worked like a charm. Contacting
DELL (they installed the Office Suite) only produced the
totally USELESS, albeit extremely polite, "solutions"
typical of Dell's offshore outsourcing of its tech
support.
