no answers from microsoft , Help!

When I try to check for updates for windows xp sp2, the checking for updates
window just keeps on scanning and scanning but nothing happens, I've left it
run for at least 20 minutes but nothing comes up, no error message
nothing....Microsoft has suggested a lot of things but nothing is working..
The last update that installed was on April 6, for service pack 3. Any ideas?

There is no "service pack 3". Only updates to Service Pack 2. How are you
trying to download the updates?
 
Updates release after SP2 are generally identified as being part of SP3 (as
most will be when the time comes).

Kevin ,it just says Microsoft Net Framework Service Pack 3
-- I'm trying to get my updates from Microsoft Updates ,My computer is set
to do the updates automatically, which worked until this last update.

I have gone back to Microsoft the other day, and it worked.
I don't leave my automatic updates enabled.

steve, I tried it last night again and still nothing, so I'm going to try and
disable auto updates and try again.
