No access to USB hard drive

After having my USB hard drives (LaCie P3) running at the same time as having
my Sony Ericsson connected via USB I got some conflict and a delayed writing
to one of the USB-drives was not possible when shutting them down. Then this
disk is not able to open in the explorer and it has no occupied space when
checking the properties. If I try to open it in explorer I get the message
that the unit is not availible and that it is not ready.

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is and/or has someone had it?
Will repairing the Master Boot Record from the Recovery Console fix it?

The master boot record refers to your hd master, boot disk, its not
applicable to the usb drive.
What is shown in Disk Management?

Thanks for trying to help!

It says that the disk has 100% free space, the slot for "File system" is
blank (should have been NTFS) and in the "Volume" field theres only the disk
label and not the name I had given it. The capacity is ok and in "Status" it
says it has no faults.

I believe this might mean that the Master File Table is corrupt.
Usually you would run chkdsk on the drive, whether it will run on a usb
drive, I've never tried.
Spinwrite (google) is another utility that might help
