nikon ls2000, winxp, tekram dc315u scsi

Hi,

On Win2k, the above hardware worked perfectly, both for nikon scan and
for vuescan.

After upgrade to WinXP, things are not working. With nikon scan 3.1,
the preview button makes the scanner click and whir for about 30 sec,
then it hangs, and I need to power cycle the pc. Under VueScan 8.1.25,
the Preview button makes the scanner whir and click for about 20
seconds, then the system hangs and has to be power cycled.

Obviously both programs can see and manipulate the scanner.

In device manager, the only problem is a yellow check for the ls-2000,
which I believe is normal. Winxp is at sp2, everything up to date.

LS2000 firmware is 1.3.1

I tried both terminated and not terminated on the back of the scanner.

I've tried tekram aspi, and adaptec aspi 4.70.0 and 4.71.2. For the
adaptec versions, aspicheck indicated all was OK.

If anyone has this combo working, I'd love to hear the details.

I'd hate to switch to the adaptec 2906, but that seems the jist of
advice according to my browsing of this group.

The driver needed is Nikon Scan 3.1.2 Full Version - Windows

Nikon support for LS2000

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestions.

I had already been running nikon scan 3.1.2, but I hadn't followed the
instructions for loading the .inf/driver. After doing that, VueScan
started to work well, but Nikon Scan continues to hang the computer,
forcing me to power cycle. Since I prefer VueScan, I guess I'm good to
go, but it's a little troubling that Nikon's own software can't operate
the scanner, when it's clearly setup and working properly.

I had to re-install the nikon software for my LS-2000 after XP cratered
on me and had to be re installed, I also had to reinstall the adaptec
ASPI before I could get Nikon scan to work, but it did the trick. I
found Nikons online help quite good, letters were answered back with
advice within a day. I've never had it hang the pc however. I also use
this scanner with vuescan running on linux, and find it prefreable to
the nikon scan.
