Nikon LS-9000 issue?

As the scan is in progress, the film can change shape due to heating
up/drying out.
Nikons always had very limited DOF, but this is a strange case.

Indeed, I never heard of something this reproducible (with one user).
Maybe it's an isolated case of optical misalignment.

Or, maybe it's a case that the OP has the scanner installed
inside a piece of furniture, where there is absolutely NO
air circulation, and it actually is heating up excessively.
