nib'n out the grill

Do you folks find it worth the effort cutting out the fan grills to quiet down the fan
noise?
Premade replacement grills or 1/4" chicken wire?

This particular case...

(same situation for the front fan).

is pretty noisy, and I am no noise_phile by any means. This stuff wasn't a big thing when
I was modding cases. Back then you had to cut your fan openings most of the time, because
there was hardly a case made that provided fan anchor points like they do today.

anyway what's your take?

I'm still running a fan-hole-nibbled (yes, with an actual nibbler) case
-- see fan on case side in photos at bottom:

Personally, it's that I don't care about noise or its reduction. :)

yeah, until now I was the same way. This is unusually loud. Even with pots controlling
voltages. I have nibblered (new word, add it) my way round cases before. It can be easier
to use a hole cutter these days, although the nibbler isn't getting rusty by any means.
