nfs underground

ive recently installed nfsu which works fine in single player mode.
the trouble comes when i play multi player.the game seems to play 25%
faster.
im on ntl broadband and can log on to other games with no problem.
i dont know if its anything to do with it but i keep getting a
seperate message saying my ethernet adapter is disconnected ?????????
means nothing to me im in over my head please some body help
