the only newsgroups I can download are microsoft .public ones and i cant
figure out why all the other groups are not downloading I have the same
settings on xp and it works fine any1 help pls ty
 
If you are using the default Community newsgroup server, it only hosts
microsoft.public groups. You will have to create a news account with an
appropriate server to download other newsgroup and I suspect pipex.com has
its own news server.

Look at Tools/Accounts to create a new, news account with an appropriate
server.
