Newsgroup pictures in Outlook Express - Here or Gone?

I use Outlook Express as my newsgroup reader. I have it set to download
headers and give me a preview pane.

A couple of days ago I single clicked on a message in a newsgroup and got a
preview pane of some seriously foul pictures. I do not want these pictures
on my hard drive and don't know enough to even know if they are here or if I
have gotten rid of them just be deleting the messages. Do preview
attachments go site in a cache or temporary file somewhere that I need to
clean out?

Would appreciate any guidance in making sure they're gone. Thank you!
