I have used Microsoft.com to find and read solutions to problems. Several
weeks ago a respondent suggested using Outlook Express as a news reader.
Problem I have is that I am searching for a solution to a problem outside of
the four groups I subscribe to. In Find, the only search is done in the
Subscribed To groups and not to newsgroups in general. I had to return to
Microsoft.com and search for an answer.

Any suggestions for a global newsgroup search in OE.

Search http://google.com instead. Some hits there may lead you to a
discussion forum that could prove helpful.

There's no reason why you should use the same method for reading
and posting on the one hand, and searching on the other. Unless
you keep years of messages in Outlook Express (which takes up a
lot of disk space and I don't recommend it), you don't usually
want to confine your searching to the messages stored locally on
your computer.

I recommend using a newsreader for reading and posting (I use
Outlook Express, but there are many others to choose from) and
Google Groups advanced search facility
(http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en) to search. Try
Google Groups.
