Thanks all of you for your reply. I thought that was true, but was not
sure.

You can get Outlook to act like it's a newsreader, but it really uses OE to
do it. Question is best asked in an Outlook newsgroup.

Yes, add the news server and Outlook will use OE to do it. That said, I
prefer Thunderbird for newsgroups over Outlook or Outlook Express.

False. Outlook can be used for newsgroups and it uses OE to do it. Some
MVP you are.

You just contradicted yourself. First you say Outlook can be used for
newsgroups and then turn around and say that Outlook can't do newsgroups and
therefore has to use Outlook Express to do it. If you only have Outlook
installed on a machine, no Outlook Express or OE has been permanently
disabled, then Outlook by itself cannot do newsgroups. There are plugins
available for Outlook where the plugin will display the newsgroup threads
within Outlook, and if OE is present and enabled then OE can be launched
with a /outnews command line switch which will make it report itself as
Microsoft Outlook Newsreader, but it is still not Outlook doing newsgroups.

Yawn. You can use Outlook for newsgroups. How it does it is just
splitting hairs on your part.

Yes, of course. And Windows XP can be used for coding and compiling robust
applications. Let's not concern ourselves with the fact that you would have
to have additional programs besides what comes in the box, that would be
splitting hairs.
