News has disappeared from Go menu on Outlook 2003 , and from the Tool--->
Customize command list

To get the News command back, go back to the Programs tab in Control Panel |
Internet Options and change the default newsreader to Outlook Express. If
OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch
it, clear the "Always perform this check..." box and then click the No
button.

OE prompts you to make it your default newsreader the next time you launch

You may need to reset the menu or toolbar using Tools, customize.

Thanks. I have seen that you have been answering this question a lot. I
have gone into Cotnrol Panel, Internet Options and listed Outleook Express as
the newsreader. There is no prompt about asking this question again. In
Outlook 2003 News has reappeared on the Command list in Tools---> Customize
Go category. When I drag News over Go, news still does not appear in the
Go menu. [Same results when I use the Options drop down list Add or
Remove Buttons on the menu bar]

I'm not sure where/how to create the shortcut to OE News referred to in
http://faq.outlookmvps.org/archives/000738.html

Some times it asks, sometimes not - but if it *ever* asks, always say no.

Find and Delete outcmd.dat... or just reset the Menu bar (see first tab of
the Cusotmize dialog) and try again. BTW - you don't need ot add it to the
Go menu - you can place it on any toolbar, anywhere. For example, if you use
it a lot, you might want to put it beside Help.

Right click on the desktop and choose New, Shortcut. Use either of the
command lines in the shortcut dialog. You can also edit an existing OE
shortcut ot use the command lines - such as on the quick launch bar. Right
click on it and choose Properties and add either switch to the end of the
command.
