Newly homebuilt computer slows down from time to time

I have just built a new computer (see components below) After a few hours the
computer gets so slow it nearly stops, this has happened while installing
programs & unpacking so far. But if I wait a few hours till the task is done
it returns to normal and I can play World of Warcraft on highest resolution
without any problem. I have measured the temperature, its CPU: 38 degrees
Celsius and motherboard 32 degrees celsius. So its not hot at all.
I have removed 2gig RAM since windows XP Pro only supports up to 3 gig. I
had 4 gig to start with.
Theese are the pieces of the computer:
* Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz Socket LGA775, 4MB
* Asus P5B-V, G965, Socket-775, ATX, VGA, GbLAN, SATAII, DDR2, Firew,
2xPCI-Ex16
* XFX GeForce 7950GT 570M 512MB GDDR3, eXtreme,
PCI-Express,HDCP,2xDVI,Heatpipe
* Kingston ValueR. DDR2 PC5300 2048MB CL5 Kit w/two matched ValueRAM 1024MB
DDR2
* NEC DVD-brännare AD-5170 IDE Svart OEM DVD+R/+RW/DVD-R/-RW (Dual layer)
* Samsung SpinPoint P120S 250GB SATA2 8MB 7200RPM
* Hiper PSU ATX 580W Svart, 18dB,120mm Fan,4xSATA,2XPCI-E,20/24pin
* Thermaltake Mozart TX Svart, alu front
* Sony 19" LCD SDM-S95FRB TCO-99 Svart 1280x1024,8ms,550:1,DVI/VGA
* Zalman CNPS7700-Cu CPU-Fan Socket 478/775/754/939/940
* Zalman VGA-cooler VF700-Cu
* NorthQ Silent Tornado 80mm fläkt, Blått ljus, Aluminium ram, 15db, 16,5CFM
* 8 * Akasa Ultra Quiet Amber Fan 120mm, 1400 RPM, 44.8 CFM, 18.0 dBA
* Akasa 31cm cold cathode case light, U-violet, Dual pack

Thnx for all help

New setup, I'd check the System Event Log and scan for error(s).
Also on a new rig, it's important to check that the motherboard has
the latest BIOS flash code. ( Especially important on new models,
as significant fixes usually appear after initial release. ). Drivers are
important as well and on new setups the motherboard Chipset pkg.
is a critical item.
Just a guess, but if it's a new XP instance you may be dealing with
Indexing trying to catalog the drive contents. I'd use TaskMgr to view
the Performance tab and watch for CPU intensive tasks running.

are you running a program to give you the TEMPS as it is occurring or after the fact.
processors will throttle down when they begin to get to warm.

Find the tweak to permanently disable windows messenger. Some programs use
it to track your mouse and keyboard. Some are "legit" programs.
