I guess i need to buy XP again to change the mobo.. anyone
know what "must be purchased with hardware" means? can I
buy a hard drive or a mobo and get the 90 dollar XP os? or
do I have to buy another crappy pc with xp preinstalled?
or dish out the dough for the "real" windows xp.

You can buy the OEM XP with the hard drive or the
motherboard. If your "hardware purchase" does not meet
the requirements you will be told at checkout. NewEgg is
a reputable reseller, but I have seen sites that will
sell the OEM with a broken ISA card or even a non-
functioning IDE cable.

If you had bought the retail version in the first placve you wouldn't be
having this problem.
