newbie: understanding Interfaces

Interface is it the type in Component Object Model (COM) ?
Is it the Object Model after OO ?

I don't think that Interface is the same for COM, which is an entirely
different subject. It's more like a plug in the wall, you just plug your
appliance in and you get electricity, the details are on the other side of
the wall. Only when you program its up to you to provide the details for the
Interface.
