Hello,
(Sorry for my English...)
I have P4 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM. After installing applications I need in my work
(Oracle DB, Java, FrontPage, OpenOffice, GIMP, Lotus Organizer, a few
web-browsers and some utilities) I cannot work, because system is very slow.
I have nothing in my Autostart and only AntiVir is running in beckground.
Could you tell me what to do or recommend me some link or document
describing procedures I should follow?
Thank you!

Download and install Crap Cleaner, http://www.ccleaner.com/ and only use
the Cleaner. Leave Issues alone.

Once cleaned up, double click on My Computer. Right click on the C:
drive and go to Properties. Click on Tools. Then click on Check now and
do not tick either box. Click on Start and wait until it's done. When
it's done -- it might take awhile -- click on Defragment Now and then
click on Defragment and wait until it's done. Reboot. Be sure and
disable your Anti Virus' auto scan before doing the defragmentation.

Your English is just fine. If you know that the system is virus/malware-free
and you can definitely connect the slowness to occurring after you
installed the programs - check and see how much room you have left on your
hard drive. Since you have an older computer, perhaps you only have a 30 or
40GB hard drive. So tell me the size of your drive and how much free space
you have now.

Even though you think you don't have anything running in "Autostart",
several of those programs you installed probably have services running in
the background. Do some clean-boot troubleshooting to determine if this is
the case:

Clean-boot advanced troubleshooting in Windows XP -

Post back with more information and we'll try to get this sorted out for
you.
