NEWBIE -Remote desktop connects but user name and password not accepted.

Hi, First time trying to use Remote desktop as opposed to PCAnywhere.
I'm trying to access a non-networked personal computer.
I've opened port 3389 on the client's router and have no trouble actually
making the connection to her system.
Her computer then asks for Username and Password which I type in.
It comes back with an error stating that I should make sure that the
password and domain name are correct.
She is not part of a domain, just sharing a few computers on a cable router.
What can I be doing wrong? Any advice?

Be sure that you have created a user with a password on her system and that
you have enabled remote desktop on her system. Those aren't set by default.
By getting to where you are, I believe its the user and password you need to
make sure are set to what you are trying to use.
