I have a report that i want to query by claim ticket number (ex: Enter Claim
Ticket) then i need to print the report for that claim... now i already have
the report designed and in use my question is how to query that info without
have to re desing the report over again using the query wizard... i am new to
access, but consider myself an advanced novice... thanks

In the query (that is used as the record source for the report) design
grid, as criteria on the claim ticket number column, write:
[Enter Claim Ticket Number]

When the report runs, you will be prompted for the ticket number.

Hello Fred,

I am not quite sure I understand what you stated... i do have a query
setup just as you explained... that promts for the claim number ans when i
enter the number i get the column view of the record i need it to be in my
report form so that i can print it out with our have to go through all the
records or pages of the report to see what page the number i need is then
going to file, print enter the start and end page as the number of page i
need to be printed. can i query this to print my report? instead of
redesigning to report over again with the query wizard if i do it that way it
works but then i have to start over from scratch and i already have a report
developed...

thanks and i hope that i explained myself a little bit better....

Hi Dave,

PMFJI,

It sounds as if your report is based on the underlying table, rather than on
the query which prompts for the desired claim number. You can change the
Record Source for the existing report to the query, and it should work as
Fred described. Open the report in design mode, select the Data tab of the
property sheet for the report itself, and change the Record Source to the
name of your parameter prompt query. No need for any wizards or redesign.

HTH,

Rob
