Newbie Problems

Please forgive me if this question has been asked before.

I find Win2000 Start>Programs very irritating when it hides programs
away which I have not used for a few days - (sticks/hides those
programs at the bottom of the Program list)

Is there someway I can get rid of this?

While I am at it. Any suggestions on good URL's for newbies will be
most grateful.

Done that but I do not see Properties? What I do see is a bunch of
stuff I've selected from other programs - No Properties with Sp4.

Right click the task bar where there are no icons (not the start button as
originally advised). Then select properties and uncheck 'Use Personalized
Menus'.
