Newbie domain name/upgrade question

Mike

Running NT 4.0 domain with about 200 users. We are planning a 2003
upgrade/migration and just today our company was purchased by another
company. Our NT 4.0 domain name is the name of the old company.
What is the best way to change the domain name and migrate to 2003?
Do I change the domain name in 4.0 first and then do the migration?
Can I change it during an upgrade? Or is it better to start a new
domain and migrate over to it?

Create a new Windows 2003 AD Forest with the name you want and
migrate everything to it.

I would suggest renaming the NT 4.0 domain first.

I am guessing you have more experience with NT 4.0. You will have enough to
deal with in setting up AD without having to add renaming the AD domain to
the mix. But it can be renamed after the Win 2k3 domain is in place by using
the rename tool that comes with Win 2k3.
