New XP Security Problem??

R

Richard Jenkins

Last night I discovered three unauthorized users in my
network neighborhood when my McAfee firewall blocked
outgoing TCPs from ports 3186 and 3202. Today my firewall
has blocked incoming TCPs aimed at ports 3204, 3205, 3206
all from IP address 81.52.249.41 in France. Other incoming
TCP are aimed at ports in the low 3400s.

It seems a bit too coincidental. I think there's a
problem with the XP firewall. I have the internal XP
firewall up all of time and run McAfee's firewall most of
the time (it doesn't work well with my kid's on line
game). So, I think the intruders got while XP firewall
was up but McAfee was down.

Comments?

A firewall does not protect against thing that one
invites, knowingly or not, into the machine.
(it doesn't work well with my kid's on line game)
is ominous. What else are they running ?
You should scan the system for malware with a tool
such as PestPatrol
