New word document

When opening a new word document the cursor appears right at the top of the page and not below the header. I have to view header and change before the cursor goes where it should. A new blank document has always opened with the cursor in the right place before.

JR,

Have a look at tools>options>view and see if you have an
option something like "show white space between pages." I
know it is a feature in Word2002 and up but I am at a 2000
machine right now and can't tell you the precise name.
Toggle it and see if it helps.
