New Windows Update Download

The below download (which I think is too small to be a full driver update)
is now available on Microsoft's Windows Update site with a very vague
description. Anyone know what it is?

ATI Technologies Inc. - RADEON 9600 SERIES

ATI Technologies, Inc - Video - RADEON 9600 SERIES
Download size: 5.7 MB, 4 minutes
ATI Technologies Inc. display software update released on February 22 2005.

Personally, I avoid any and all driver updates from the Windows Update site
like the plague, and I'd suggest you do the same unless you have reason to
do otherwise. I would go to www.ati.com and get the latest driver there.
Besides, with a date of February 22, the Microsoft driver could be one
version behind the current iteration from ATI.

Don't install drivers from the Microsoft Windows Update site. They are
generic at the chip, not board, level, and as often as not, they break
things.

Yep. Those clowns started pushing video drivers for
some reason I cannot understand. Those stupid drivers
are out of date .. will absolutely blast your installed
driver, and will probably blue-screen your system.
I called MS and asked them what the heck they thought
they were doing, and they simply said "turn off automatic
updates, and do it manually." The stupid thing took
down every single machine I had in my CAD labs
running ATI 9800s. I had to spend hours recovering
those machines from the mess those downloads made.

Aren't only Critical Updates downloaded automatically? These ATI drivers
are under the Drivers tab, and not downloaded automatically. Though I could
be mistaken.
