new window/link blank not loading

when i click on a link in ie6, or a link from outlook
express, the new window appears as it should, but instead
of loading it just stops and doesn't load. If I press
escape(to stop), then ctrl R(reload), it loads fine. i
cant pin point what i did to cause it and have re-
installed ie and oe to try and sort the problem, I have
also returned all settings to default but still no joy. I
am using xp home ed sp1. PLEASE HELP!!!!
