i just got a new comp with vista 32 bit. it has
Core 2 extreme
nvidia 8800 gtx
2 gig corsair dominator mem,
my problem is with eq2 and vanguard, they both boot up fine and run fine
but seems that after playing either of them for 30 min to an hour i crash to
the desktop. and i crash every 30 min to an hour. ive updated windows and the
vid card with the newest drivers, but still happens. any ideas what might be
causing the crashes

I have this same problem, video drivers are updated, nothing on the game tech
support forums. Every game I have does this, not just EQ II or LotR. Also
does this on Command and Conquer 3, Galactic Civilations II, just about al
lmy favorite games. The only games that work well are the ones that come
with windows. Very frustrating.

I have a intel duo core 2,67ghz with 4 gig's and also a 8800gtx.
Until now i've installed 30 to 35 games. They al run well. Why cause i shut
down windows defender, this programs runs in the background checking
everything out for spyware.
Everytime your game uses an app or driver defender doesn't like, he shut's
down the game. So shut down defender it's crap and one more thing run vista
32 bit not 64 cause most games are made for 32.

Hi Kronos,

How do I turn of Defender, because I've heard something similiar elsewhere
in relation to game crashes?

Is it safe to turn Defender off?

Would you email me on (e-mail address removed).

Kind Regards,

It's safe to turn off Defender since it's not very effective anyway. But keep
in mind you should replace it with a good anti-spyware program such as:
Superantispyware
http://superantispyware.com/
or A-Squared
http://www.emsisoft.com/en/

These are just two of the many available but they are good choices and they
both offer a free and paid version.

If you get online without anti-malware protection you'll run into a lot more
problems than games shutting down!!
