new user account

My present User group is ?corrupted in that I no longer hear system sounds
though they are present on other accounts and nothing is muted!.
think it best to set up another account and transfer my settings to it.
What is the easiest way to do this?

By transfering the settings would you not also be transfering the corruption???
But in order to transfer you need to create the new account...lets say B with
the old being C.
Then you need to log in with a 3rd account making sure this account has
Admin.privileges.
right click MyComputer....properties...advanced....user profiles/settings......
highlight the old account...C
click copy to
browse to "documents&settings/new account..B
click OK
OK your way out
reboot and sign in as new user...........if it all works delete old user

The corruption is seemingly in the file that is set up when the account is
created so it doesnt come across when copied. I had already done as you
suggested. What I really wanted was an easy method of copying Outlook
Express, My Documents etc....if there is one!
