New user account problem

I created a new user account (limited) for a single computer running WXP.
Every time the new user account logs in, a window pops open, it is called
"hpothb07". I don't know what it is or how it got there. There are two on the
desktop. One is a TIF file with nothing in it, the other is a DAT file. I
searched the file and about 100 files appeared named "hpothb07". I searched
it on the internet, not much showed up about it. I virus scanned them,
nothing infected. What are these files and how do I get rid of them?

Thanks for your help

They're created by an HP Scanner or All-in-One printer. I've
never had a problem deleting those files. Have you tried
deleting them in Safe Mode?

It sounds as if one of those files was saved to a location that
launches startup programs, possibly the Startup folder on that
user's Start Menu.

Best approach I can think of would be to run one of these
programs and see if hpothb07 shows up as a startup item. Once
you locate where it's launching from, you can disable it.

Good luck
