New Trinitron

Hi, I just bought a 21" Sony Trinitron monitor online. I got the package
today and plugged the monitor in and it works (no, the wires don't bother
me). There is a slight problem with the display though. For every
contrasting element on screen, there is a shadow of it about 1/8 of an inch
to the right. It has an almost gel-look to it. I was wondering if anyone
had come across this problem before with a Trinitron and if so what did you
do to correct it? My system specs are:
1280x1024 @75Hz
PIII 900Mhz
GeForce2 MX 400 64MB
384MB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP1

Thanx for any help,
Mark

Is there any way (in plain English) that I could fix this myself or should I
let a certified technician take a look at it?

Try using 1280x960 instead. That would give you the standard 4:3 aspect ratio.

It's either the video cable is poor quality, or your video card is
sloppy...

Got another PC to try the monitor on? Does the cable come off at both
ends so you can try another?

If the monitor has got BNC connectors, use shielded cable (75Ohm I think)
with BNC connectors... This should reduce ghosting and bleeding...
