New system problems

Aidan

Just set up my new system and I'm having a few problems with the hard
drives.

Stats are:
Pentium 4 2.8GHz
1GB Corsair RAM
Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Mobo
3 WD 36GB SATA Raptors
1 WD 160GB ATA100
Matrox G550 Video Card
Windows XP

My problem has arisen in getting the hard drives recognized in windows. Two
of the Raptors are on the Silicon Image SATA controller as a RAID 0 array.
No problems there, working great. The other drives however are not being
recognized at all. In fact, if I connect the other Raptor to the onchip
SATA controller the system hangs at "verifying dmi...". With the 160GB on
the IDE 3 Channel controlled by the GIGARAID controller windows recognizes
the drive in device manager but it does not show it in my computer. Now I'm
pretty much a newbie to RAID but I can't understand why Windows can
recognize it on one area but not the other. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. If any more info is needed please let me know and I'll do my
best to provide it.

Thanks much,

Aidan

The difference is partitioning.
